"To Boldly Go: Part One"
INTRODUCTION: I have created the series "Separation Of Powers" to continue the lives of
the Gargoyles after "The Goliath Chronicles". As you read, prepare for new characters,
outrageous adventures and crazy plot-twists. (Be careful, if you miss one story in this series,
you're lost...)
THE STORY SO FAR: This story takes place a few weeks after the train incident in the
cartoon episode entitled "Angels In The Night".

"...Elisa..."
Detective Maza awoke with a jerk and gasped. She had broken out in a cold sweat. Sitting
up in bed, out of breath, she put her face in her hands. She thought to herself, `The same dream
over and over again. Why...why?` As she sat in silence, she felt the matress bounce slightly and
saw Cagney stretch, the cat's tail extending upward. The cat purred and rubbed up against
Elisa's arm. She sighed and ran her hand over her pet. "Okay, okay," she said. "I'll feed you,
Cagney."
She climbed out of bed and walked into the kitchen of her apartment. While opening a can
of cat food, she glanced out the window and noticed the sun was about to go down. `I can't
stand it. I can't hold it back any longer. I need to let Goliath know what's been going on.
Maybe he'll know what that dream is all about.`
Setting the bowl of cat food down in front of Cagney, Elisa walked into the bathroom to
take a shower.

Owen Burnett escorted Elisa through the Eyrie Building and up the staircase that spiraled
around the inside of a parapet. They arrived at the top just as the sun was going down behind
the New York skyscrapers. Owen said, "I'll leave you alone with your friends while I attend to
Alexander."
Elisa said, "Thank you," and watched Owen spin on his heels and proceed back down the
staircase.
She spun around to look at the statue as it began to crack. The cracks grew larger as they
spread throughout the statue's body. Little chunks of stone began to fall here and there. As the
living being underneath the stone moved, the stone flew off and revealed Goliath; the leader of
the Gargoyle clan living in Manhattan.
Goliath roared as he stretched, flexing his muscles. He turned and smiled when his eyes met
Elisa's. He greeted her and closed his wings in front of him. "Elisa," he said with a booming
voice, "it's nice to see you."
"You too, Goliath," she responded. The smile seemed to drain from her face as she said,
"There's something I need to talk to you about."
"Oh?" the big Gargoyle questioned. "You...seem as if something is troubling you. What's
wrong?"
"I've been having these dreams on and off for the past couple of weeks." She put her hands
in the pockets on her jacket and looked away. "Well, it's not really a dream but, I keep hearing
my name repeated by a familiar voice. The tone of the voice makes it sound like it's calling out
for help." Elisa shook her head. "I thought maybe you might have an idea as to what it means,
because Puck created a dream in your head and you--"
She was cut off suddenly by a pounding headache that felt like a ton of bricks. She fell
forward and Goliath jumped to catch her. Elisa groaned. "Elisa?" Goliath rolled her over to
look at her face which was grimacing.
Elisa yelled out in pain. Then she heard the voice again: "Elisa..."
"Stop it! Get out of my head!!"
"Elisa... It is I, Nokkar..." Elisa couldn't believe it. It was Nokkar, the extraterrestrial on
Easter Island. It was him calling her all this time. "Elisa... I need your help. I am contacting you
telepathically. I can communicate with you this way because I tampered with your mind when
we first met. I need you to come to Easter Island immediately. You need to bring the best
warriors you can find. I will explain more when you arrive here. Please, Elisa. I need your help.
Please..."
She opened her eyes and saw Goliath's face. "Elisa?"
"Goliath, it was Nokkar. Nokkar was the one calling me in my dreams." She stood up and
spoke rapidly. "He was pleading for help. He wanted us to go to Easter Island. He needs our
help. He said--"
"Elisa, slow down," Goliath said. "Now, start from the beginning."

Matt Bluestone walked down the hallway toward his Captain's office. He knocked and
walked in. Closing the door behind him, he heard Captain Maria Chavez ask, "What is it,
Bluestone?"
"Have you seen Elisa?" Glancing at the clock on the wall, "Our shift starts in ten minutes and
she hasn't shown up yet. She's usually here by now."
"Sorry, Detective. Haven't seen her." Getting back to her work, she said, "Maybe she'll call
in sick a little later."
"Yeah, maybe." Bluestone left the room and closed the door behind him. He thought to
himself, `Elisa never gets sick. I wonder if something's up with the Gargoyles. That has to be it.`
Bluestone couldn't be more right.

Goliath, Elisa, Angela, Hudson and Brooklyn were at a dock in the Hudson river. All but
Brooklyn climbed into a large rowboat. Goliath turned back to Brooklyn and said, "You are
my second-in-command. You need to guard Castle Wyvern, and the city, while I'm gone. And
tell Broadway to take care of Elisa's cat, too." He sat down and grabbed the oars.
Brooklyn said, "Hopefully you won't be gone as long as last time."
"This time you know where we are," Goliath said, "and where we are headed." He added,
"Elisa is right. The fastest way to get to Easter Island is though Avalon's magic. We NEED to
go there, so Avalon should take us right there. We will find a different way to get back home
so that we don't get off on another odyssey...like last time."
Everyone said their good-byes and Goliath began to row. Out in the River, Goliath's former
mentor Hudson saw a look of worry on Goliath's face. Hudson said, "Don't worry, lad. The
Trio and Bronx will be fine by themselves. There protected now that they are back at the
Castle atop the Eyrie."
Sighing, Goliath said, "You're right. They'll be fine." He proceeded to speak the incantation
to take the rowboat across the world with the magic from the mysterious island known only as
Avalon.
The boat was suddenly engulfed in a heavy fog. Hudson gasped. He hadn't seen anything
like this before. Angela said with a half-smile, "You'll get used to it."
After a few minutes, the fog cleared and ahead was the shape of an island. A large smile
appeared on Angela's face as she said, "Avalon! My old home!"
Goliath rowed the boat ashore and Angela leaped out of it and onto the sand. She knelt and
grabbed handfuls of sand and dirt and let it filter through her fingers. She said again, "Avalon!"
Goliath loved to see his daughter smile. He only wished Broadway could be here to see her
so happy. He noticed a Gargoyle flying overhead. The Gargoyle swooped downward and
landed on the beach. It was Gabriel.
Gabriel smiled and said, "Goliath! Angela! Elisa! It's good to see you all again."
Hudson couldn't believe his eyes. Another living Gargoyle. He was so glad to see that there
were more Gargoyles in the world.
Goliath explained to Gabriel why they were here and what they were doing. He also
explained who, and what, Nokkar was. Gabriel agreed to go with them and help. He would
make a great ally; that's what Nokkar had asked for...great warriors. They stayed on Avalon
just long enough to see Princess Katherine and Tom the Guardian. Hudson was happy to see
the Princess and Tom again. When they were done `reminiscing` they headed back to the
rowboat and tried for Easter Island.

Off on another island, one that was reachable by plane, a couple of teenage kids
spray-painted the side of a building. This island is called Australia. And not all was going well.
These two kids have `decorated` many different buildings throughout Sydney for the past
week. They have been doing it at night and haven't been caught...until now.
As they began to spray swear words onto the wall, a noise came from behind them. They
both spun around and were ready to run if it was the police. One of the kids stayed and
defaced the wall some more while the other kid walked further into the long alley to see what
the noise was. Trembling, and nervous, the kid proceeded to the other end of the alley. He had
found nothing. He sighed silently in relief and turned to walk back to the wall where his friend
was but instead bumped into someone. The kid looked the mysterious man in the face and his
jaw dropped open. The man said with an accent from down under, "And what do ya think
you're doing?"
The kid said, "No. It's the Dingo!" Indeed it was `the Dingo`. It was Dingo from the former
television series in the United States called The Pack. He wore silver armor and had a
mohawk-type shape sticking up from his helmet. He reached out and grabbed the kid before
he ran away. Lifting him up off the ground with one hand, he smiled devilishly. He threw the kid
up against the wall next to him and looked down at him.
Dingo said, "Lets get to it," and the silver armor began to morph. It changed it's shape into a
seven-foot, silver Gargoyle with six-inch fangs. He roared and the kid ran off.
The other kid heard the roar and turned around. From the alley, he saw the huge, shiny,
silver Gargoyle-like creature lunge toward him. The kid was so scared he nearly peed his
pants. He dropped the can and cringed as Dingo pushed him against the wall. Dingo changed
back to his normal shape and took his hands off the kid's shoulders.
As the kid ran off, Dingo yelled, "That's just a warning!" Then he said to himself, "Good job,
Matrix."
His metal armor seemed to talk. It said, "Thank you," back to him in an electronic voice.
Dingo said to the Matrix, "We only want to scare the people, not kill 'em."
The Shaman appeared in the alley and said to Dingo, "You are not teaching the Matrix
properly. That is not the true law and order."
"Hey, mate. In this day and age you have to be tough like that," Dingo said to the Shaman.
"This ain't the Dream Time."
The Shaman said, "Wait. I am sensing a familiar presence through the Dream Time." He
hesitated and said, "Ahh. Your old friends have returned. The male Gargoyle and the human
woman."
"Gargoyle?" Dingo said, "Goliath! And the female must be... No, it can't be Fox. It must be
the Detective. Maza's her name I think. Well," looking at the Shaman, "let's go greet 'em, shall
we?"

The rowboat arrived at the shore and Elisa commented, "This doesn't look like Holiday to
me."
Goliath said, "No, it's not." He jumped out and pulled the boat up on to the dirt. He turned
and looked around at the open land. "This looks like..." He hesitated.
"We've been here before, haven't we?" Angela looked up at her father.
"Yes," Goliath said. "It looks like Australia."
Elisa said, "Why would Avalon send us back here? There has to be a reason. Hopefully it's
not one like last time."
"Gooday, mates!" Dingo showed up out of nowhere with the Shaman following behind. The
Gargoyles and Elisa turned to see them.
Hudson drew his sword and his eyes started to glow. As he let out a low growl, Elisa
stopped him. "Hudson, no. He's one of the good guys now."
"Isn't it Dingo? In that silver armor, he looks like Jackal and Hyena." Hudson didn't know
what to think. He watched Goliath as he shook hands with, who he thought was, the enemy.
Elisa tapped Goliath's shoulder. "Goliath, I think I know why we're here." She waved her
hand toward the former Pack member. "Another reliable ally."
Goliath smiled.
Dingo frowned and looked at Elisa and the four Gargoyles and said, "What?"

Back in New York, Brooklyn sat in Hudson's comfortable recliner and flicked through the
channels on the big screen TV in front of him. He turned
the volume up and set the remote control down when he
saw Travis Marshall on the screen holding a microphone.
"Good evening, this is Travis Marshall on location for a
very special Night Watch. I am standing near the remains
of the tweny-third precinct police station destroyed by the
Gargoyles a year ago. And these Gargoyles are a myth no
longer." The camera panned to Travis' right and showed
Lexington standing with people gathered around him. Brooklyn made a face and shook his
head. Travis continued, "We now know that they are as real as you and me. This Gargoyle's
name is Lexington. He helped save the train as it headed full speed toward a cliff. Do you have
anything to say to the public now that you're out in the open, Lexington?"
Lexington said, "Travis, please, call me Lex."
Brooklyn rolled his eyes. He murmured the word, "Jalapena." He shook his head again.

The over-crowded rowboat carrying Goliath, Angela, Hudson, Elisa, Gabriel and Dingo
pulled into another familiar place. The water was somewhat calm and the air was
clean...cleaner that the air in Manhattan. Elisa looked around, "Wait a minute. This looks like--"
She was cut off by a loud `dinging` sound. She knew right away that it was Big Ben. They
were in England. She said, "Nokkar's expecting us. We need to leave. We can't waste any
more time, Goliath."
"You're right," Goliath said. "Whatever reason Avalon has sent us here for will have to wait
for another day. We need to leave." He rowed the boat out into the water and was about to
start reciting the incantation when a metal air-ship flew over head and slowly lowered down on
to the surface of the water. As it lowered, legs came out of the bottom of the ship and touched
the surface of the water. The ship was immediately afloat. Goliath said, "Who is this?"
A door on the side of the small ship slid open and MacBeth appeared. MacBeth said with a
smile, "Goliath! Need a lift?"
"As a matter of fact, we do," Goliath said looking back at his crowded rowboat.
Gabriel exclaimed, "What?!"
As they climbed into the air-ship, Goliath explained to them that MacBeth could be
considered a friend. Though they fought against MacBeth on Avalon a year and a half ago
when the Archmage had control of him, he actually DEFENDED the Gargoyles on Night
Watch when Margot Yale tried to criticize them.
Goliath entered the ship first and heard a familiar voice with an English accent. "Goliath!
How have you been, old chap?"
Goliath looked up and saw Griff. Smiling, he said, "Griff. I'm doing well." King Arthur
Pendragon emerged from behind Goliath. Goliath turned to see him and knelt on one knee.
"Greetings, Your Majesty."
King Arthur shook his head. "There's no need to kneel. We're old friends after all." Goliath
stood up and as everyone else climbed into the ship, Goliath introduced Gabriel and Dingo.
Dingo couldn't believe that he was actually looking at the real King Arthur with his own eyes.
At the time that King Arthur found Excalibur, MacBeth had agreed to join him whenever he
needed help. And King Arthur had knighted Sir Griff soon after that. That's why the three were
traveling together.
Goliath was glad that MacBeth had found them. The rowboat was getting too crowded and
the air-ship had considerably more room. Goliath told MacBeth that they were heading for
Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and MacBeth agreed to fly them there. "We
are going to aid an...old friend...and he wanted us to bring some of the best warriors," Goliath
said. "That is all that we know."
"Well," King Arthur reponded placing his hand on the handle of Excalibur, "the three of us
are reliable warriors. We'll help you and your friend."
Griff asked, "Who is your friend, anyhow?"
Elisa said, "He's an extraterrestrial by the name of Nokkar."
MacBeth questioned, "An alien? From outer space?"
"Yes," Elisa responded. "And we need to get there as soon as possible."
"Well, then," MacBeth said as he walked into the cockpit, "let's get a wiggle-on." He sat in
the chair and pushed buttons and pulled levers. The ship lifted straight up off the water and the
legs went back up into the underside of it. "Hold on," MacBeth said as he let the ship hover in
mid-air for a few seconds. He pushed a large lever forward slowly and the ship flew off.
A little while later, Easter Island was in view. MacBeth slowed the ship down and prepared
to land. The ship's legs extended out of it's belly and touched down. The door slid open and
they all piled out. The infamous stone faces were just ahead. Goliath pointed to them and said,
"Nokkar should be right over there."
A yellow ball of light flew overhead and hit the ground. Goliath, Elisa, Angela, Hudson,
Gabriel, Dingo, Griff, MacBeth and King Arthur all looked and there, in place of the light,
stood a tall figure in dark green armor from head to foot. Gasps were heard throughout the
crowd of `warriors`.
Nokkar reached up and removed his helmet. There was a smile on his face. It was the same
face as the ones on the statues. "Hello, Goliath," Nokkar said. "I can see you brought friends. I
hope they can fight." He hesitated, then, "I needed you to come and help me win an
intergalactic battle. I got word from my Captain weeks ago that my entire starfleet had been
wiped out and I was the only member left, besides him. Join me, please. You are my only
hope."
"We will," Goliath said looking around at his allies.
"Hold it right there!" A voice came from behind Goliath and his team. He turned to see Dr.
Arnada in a white coat pointing a pistol at them. Dr. Arnada was the man who checked Elisa to
see if she had lost her memory a year and a half ago.
"Dr. Arnada?" Nokkar was confused. "I thought you were my friend."
Dr. Arnada said, "I first came to Easter Island because I heard there was an extraterrestrial
here. When I found out you were real, I wanted to capture you."
Nokkar repeated, "Capture?"
"Yes, you see," Dr. Arnada started again, flashing a badge of some kind, "I work at Area
51 in Nevada. And I'm taking you there. I pretended to be your friend so that I could learn all
about you. And now I'm ready to take you in." Five other men dressed in brown came out
from around MacBeth's air-ship. They all carried guns. Dr. Arnada said, "If Nokkar comes
quietly, no one will get hurt."
Area 51 is a top secret Air Force base where they, supposedly, have alien beings,
spacecraft and technology. But it's all kept secret from the public.
Dingo yelled, "Everyone go with Nokkar, now! I'll hold them off." He ran for the Area 51
workers who opened fire. The Matrix expanded creating a wall to protect everyone from the
flying bullets which bounced right off of the silvery surface. Dingo laughed. The Matrix was
indestructable.
Hudson drew his sword and looked at Goliath. "Go, lad! I'll help Dingo." He ran next to
Dingo as the Matrix retracted back to it's normal size. Hudson lunged at Dr. Arnada and
landed on top of him. He slashed the pistol into two pieces. His eyes glowed and he growled.
Goliath and the others ran next to Nokkar, dodging bullets. Nokkar raised his arms and
they were engulfed in a large ball of yellow light leaving Dingo and Hudson behind. Goliath
yelled, "Hudson!! Let's go!" But Hudson couldn't hear him. Goliath watched Hudson and
Dingo fade from view as the yellow ball, and the beings inside it, disappeared.
The next thing Goliath saw was the inside of Nokkar's spacecraft. The light vanished and
Nokkar ran to the control panel to launch the alien ship. The ship lifted from the ground and
hovered. As it sped off and headed for outer space, Goliath looked out the window at Hudson.
Two of the Area 51 workers were down, as was Hudson... Dingo's Matrix formed a huge fist
and was about to punch Dr. Arnada when one of the workers pulled out a large laser gun and
fired. The laser stunned Dingo and he fell like a ton of bricks.
Goliath shook his head and was choked up as he mumbled Hudson's name. He tried to
hold back the tears. Elisa walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder. "We'll get back
in time to save him, Goliath."
MacBeth turned to Nokkar and said, "Come to think of it, how long will we be gone?"
Nokkar glanced at him, "It depends."
"On what, exactly?"
"On how many ships the enemy has remaining by the time we get there."
"Okay. We need to hurry." MacBeth smiled and began to laugh. "We need to get back in
time to see Xena: Warrior Princess." Everyone stared at him as the ship exited the Earth's
atmosphere.
MacBeth's trying to be funny but what he didn't know is that, what's about to come, isn't
funny at all. He doesn't know that the battle he, Goliath, Elisa, Angela, Nokkar, Griff, King
Arthur and Gabriel are about to fight is going to be a long...and deadly one...
...to be continued...
